8/6/12 - Da Da is my daughters word for All Done. I had a lot of fun making this sign, but at some point it has to leave the workbench.
Now We're Cookin
8/16/12 - SignCraft Magazine asked us to participate in a section of the magazine called Price this Panel. We were told the sign should be round, against a brick background with the copy Muddy River BBQ. It was a really fun project to work on and the editors Tom and John Mcltrot were great to work with. It's a real honor to particate in a magazine we have been reading for 20 years.
Back to School
8/22/12 - Well the sign is done and installed and it looks great! Maybe next year we can add gold leaf prismatic letters. They would really pop in the morning sun.
Testing, Testing, Testing
5/4/12 - This week, we are coloring our sample boards and the new faux stone skirt around the showroom bay window using a new acid staining process we learned earlier this year at a workshop in Canada. We always like to test out new products before we use it for a real job. Fortunately, it came out looking great. The colors are rich, permanent and retain the natural looking rough texture we sculpted into the concrete. Now we just need to finish the steel skeleton for our garden sign tree post and we apply our new skill and materials to a real job.
Build A Grand Entrance!
4/10/12 - Today we picked up the steel arch that the letters will be welded to. It cost a pretty penny, but it looks great. Just need to grind off the scale and the sharp edges in preparation for welding. We will be welding the letters to the arch using our new Millermactic 211 Mig welder. Since picking up the welder in December, we have been eager to put it to use for a decorative project.
