Quarterboard signs have a long history in coastal New England. Originally used to display the names of sailing ships, these distinctive carved signs later became popular on homes, inns and businesses—particularly in places such as Nantucket and other historic seaside communities.
For this custom quarterboard, we combined traditional nautical styling with crisp carved lettering and a classic painted finish. The shaped panel, dimensional border and carefully arranged typography give the sign an authentic maritime character while keeping it clean and easy to read.
